Welcome to Uddingston Community Sport Hub
Part of the lasting legacy from the Commonwealth Games, Community Sport Hubs are sportscotland’s contribution to the Scottish Government’s 2014 legacy plan. In a joint partnership with South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, the Hub aims are to increase the number of people of all ages participating in sport and physical activity in local communities across Scotland. They also aim to provide information, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities. This will encourage and make it easier for local people to get involved and engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle.
Uddingston Community Sport Hub is based at Uddingston Grammar School. The Hub was established in June 2011 and currently has 9 clubs engaged with the hub.
The clubs involved include; hockey, rugby, tae kwon do, football, gymnastics, badminton, tennis, netball and activities for seniors. To find out more about the clubs then please go to our clubs links page.
Vision, Mission and Values
Creating a welcoming environment
For Uddingston Community Sport Hub to be recognised as a vibrant, welcoming Community Sport Hub, by encouraging the local community to participate in sport and physical activity, with strong clubs providing sporting pathways from grassroot level upwards.
We will increase Uddingston Community Sport Hub’s position and profile through successful working relationships with clubs and the community, innovative thinking and developing stronger clubs in the community through coach education and other training opportunities.
The Hub is led by a steering group with the support the Community Sport Hub Officer, Craig Allardice
The Uddingston Community Sport Hub, so far has ran first aid courses for the clubs involved, provided sports development support to all the clubs and helping them through Club SL, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Cultures Club Accreditation Scheme and Positive Coaching Scotland, a programme about creating a positive environment in youth sport. Shuttle Stars Badminton Club is one of the first clubs in South Lanarkshire to go through all three stages of Positive Coaching Scotland which is delivered by sportscotland in partnership with Winning Scotland Foundation and local and national partners.
